Our origins date back to 1932, in a small family-run grocery store in the Born district of Barcelona. We began by selling wines and spirits to local restaurants and today we are one of the largest distributors in Europe. We sell around 11,000 wine and spirits references to some of the most renowned restaurants, major hotel chains, and specialized shops.
We serve our customers behind the counter in our five stores in Barcelona and Madrid, helping them find the bottle that will make them happy.
We own three wineries in Esparreguera, Rueda, and Gredos where we produce outstanding wines. We also take part in winemaking projects in collaboration with some of the country’s leading producers.
In 2008, we created what is now the most prestigious blind tasting competition in the world, both for its prize money (€50,000) and its format (in pairs). For over 30 years, we have transformed our catalogue into a work of art, featuring covers by artists such as Jaume Plensa, Joan Miró, and Miquel Barceló. We also publish Sapiens of Wine, an encyclopedia that is part of the Bullipedia project by Ferran Adrià. And we continue to create many other projects because, at Vila Viniteca, we understand wine not only as our profession, but above all as our passion.
Today, more than 350 professionals are part of a committed team, organized into different business units that share a passion for the world of wine and gastronomy.
